Here is the Huskies Update for Monday, May 11th.

Well we are just a few days away from the end of another sports season here at Bloomsburg (more on that below). It has been a busy year with lots of successful team and performances by the Huskies. Next year we will look to do even more on-line stuff so get ready for that. Now let's look back at the weekend.

TENNIS

Both the men's and women's team moved on to the NCAA national championship round in Orlando, FL with wins on Friday in Atlantic Region competition. The men beat West Virginia Wesleyan, 5-3, while the women downed Slippery Rock in a 3 1/2 hour marathon to advance. Both teams, though, will face an uphill battle in Florida. The women have drawn Lynn University of Florida. Lynn is 25-0 on the year and ranked second in D-II. The men will face Concordia of NY on Wednesday in a quarterfinal matchup. A few weeks ago Concordia beat the Huskies 9-0. Start times for the matches have yet to be announced. We'll have a preview on-line tomorrow.

SOFTBALL
The Huskies season came to an end on Saturday at the NCAA Atlantic Regional at Kutztown. The Huskies lost to West Virginia Wesleyan for the second time in the tournament by a 4-2 score. BU ends the season at 35-11.

TRACK and FIELD
Bloomsburg had a couple of All-PSAC performances over the weekend at the PSAC Track and Field championships. Ashley Shuck was All-PSAC at 10,000 meters, Katie Meck, beth Schwing, Mike Dalton and Bobby Furman at 5000-meters, Meck at 3000-meters and Sandy Anceravage in the javelin.

All-PSAC SOFTBALL
The All-PSAC Central Division softball team was announced last week. Tara Reed and Shavaun Fisher were named first team, while Nikki Shiko and Mandy Koch were named second team.

PASSING OF CHUCK DALY
Of course by now most everyone has heard of the passing of Chuck Daly, BU alum and former NBA coaching great. Our condolences go out to Chuck and his family. Chuck was one of the coaching legends of all-time leading Detroit to two NBA titles and leading the Original Dream Team at the 1992 Olympics. Amazing all he accomplished after getting his start at Bloomsburg.
