Wednesday Night at Bloomsburg

Written by Bloomsburg Sports Info on 7:43 AM

Last night was nearly a perfect one for the Huskies. Bloomsburg got victories in men's and women's tennis and women's soccer, while losing a tough match in men's soccer.

In tennis, congrats to coach Marty Coyne who won his 200th men's match with an 8-1 win over Scranton. On the women's side, the Huskies blanked the Lady Royals 9-0. Results will be posted on the web site later today.

In women's soccer, the Huskies posted a 1-0 shutout over East Stroudsburg and are now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC East. The men lost a tough 2-1 battle with the Warriors. It was the first loss of the year for the Huskies and drop them to 3-1-3 overall and 1-1-1 in the PSAC East.

Today the field hockey team will look to make it eight straight to start the year when it hosts Mansfield starting at 4 p.m. Jamie Vanartsdalen needs one goal to tie and two to break the D-II all-time goals scored record of 93 held by a player from Longwood University.

This weekend the Huskies host Kutztown in football at 1 p.m. All fans coming to the game get a $1 coupon for admission to the Bloomsburg Fair on Saturday. Also, the men's soccer team host New York Tech at 2 p.m.

On the road the women's tennis team will be at Shippensburg along with the BU field hockey team. The men's and women's cross country teams head to Vancortland Park in New York for the Iona College Meet of Champions. This is the first "big" meet of the year for the Huskies and features a deep Division I field as well as sveral regionally ranked D-II teams. Good luck to the Huskies.

Remember to support the Huskies both with your presence at a game and financially through the Huskies Athletic Association. For more information on how to join the Huskies Athletic Association go to www.buhuskies.com.
