Another Win for Field Hockey

Written by Bloomsburg Sports Info on 8:48 AM

Here is the Huskies Update for Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Well, another game and another win for the BU field hockey team. That's makes six team wins in a row for the Huskies going back to last week's men's soccer game with West Chester. A nice little run for the Huskies athletic department!

FIELD HOCKEY
Amanda Riley scored one goal and had one assist to lead the Huskies to a 4-0 win over Slippery Rock on Monday afternoon. Bloomsburg improved to 12-1 with the victory and will host CW Post on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

FIELD HOCKEY-PART TWO
The Huskies moved back into the top spot of the national D-II Field Hockey Coaches Poll after taking down last week's top-ranked team Shippensburg. Bloomsburg started the year number one, but fell as far as three after losing to Kutztown on Labor Day.

TONIGHT
It's a soccer twinbill at Sports Stadium with the men's and women's teams hosting Millersville. The women's game starts at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.

FOOTBALL RANKINGS
The Bloomsburg University football team is ranked number one in the first NCAA Division II Regional Football Poll of the 2009 season.

The poll, which determines playoff seeding in each region, was released on Monday with the Huskies and their 6-0 record in the top spot of Super Region One. Charleston (West Virginia), also undefeated, is ranked second. Fellow PSAC schools Edinboro (third), Slippery Rock (fourth), East Stroudsburg (fifth) and California (seventh) are also ranked in the top 10.

The Huskies travel to East Stroudsburg this Saturday to take on the Warriors at 2:30 p.m. The matchup will be the first of two Bloomsburg games broadcast on SPORTSfever TV. Check your local listings for the channel in your area.
