Here we are in the middle of June and the temperature today will reach into the mid 90's in Bloomsburg.

This is the time of the year in the sports information office when we start to put into place all the things we will need for the coming year.

A big part of our focus this coming year is on social media. How can we engage more of you via Twitter, Facebook and the many other avenues out there. Recently we added a text message service to our offerings giving you another easy way to follow the Huskies.

If you have not yet signed up for any of our services take some time now to go visit our social media page at www.buhuskies.com/socialmedia and sign up. It is quick, easy and best of all, free.

Among the other things going on this summer are our summer camps. There is still time to sign up for one of our great camps. Just visit our camp web page for more information.

We are starting to post 2012 fall schedules right now. We have updated the look of our schedule pages. We hope you like the new look. Leave us some feedback and let us know your thoughts.

That's it for this week. Check back next week for another posting on what is going on with BU Athletics...from the sports information side.
Bloomsburg Sports Infohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14890820465971132398noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552729279870065470.post-58000773496083028292012-06-11T11:09:00.001-07:002012-06-11T11:12:03.769-07:00We'll Be Coming BackSome time ago when the sports information office had our old web site...bloomu.edu/sports we used this blog site as a great way to keep people up to date on a daily basis. This was before Facebook became as popular as it is now and certainly well before Twitter was in existence.
But it seems there is still a need to contact on a more "personal" level and that's where we hope this revised blog will do the trick.
For the summer months we'll post some content and then hope to make a bigger impact in the fall with more regular postings.
As in the past we encourage you to interact with us and let us know what kind of content will interest you the most.
Until then have a great summer and be sure to check back in with us.Bloomsburg Sports Infohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14890820465971132398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552729279870065470.post-90844296777740898632009-10-23T12:25:00.000-07:002009-10-23T12:37:54.205-07:00It's Raining AgainHere is the Huskies Update for Friday, Oct. 23.

It's raining again in Bloomsburg with more scheduled for tomorrow. Who can tell me how a month can fly by so fast. Hard to believe we are halfway the fall season.

FIELD HOCKEY
Well in the matchup of #1 versus #2....#2 prevailed as the Huskies beat Shippensburg 5-1. Bloomsburg scored just 27 seconds into the game on a goal by Maggey Bloskey, then added a second goal just 2 minutes later. Bloomsburg is now 10-1 on the year and plays at Kutztown on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

TODAY
The men's and women's soccer teams travel to West Chester today for a battle with the Golden Rams. Start time for the women is at 2 p.m., while the men play at 4 p.m.

COACHES VS. CANCER
Bloomsburg University men's soccer coach Paul Payne has announced the development of 'Red Card Cancer,' a program designed to bring awareness through the soccer coaching community in the fight against cancer.

'Red Card Cancer' will be an annual event to be held the first Saturday of October (Oct. 3 this year) and will feature the men's and women's soccer teams of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference joining in the battle to fight cancer.

On the day of the game, teams will wear specially designed t-shirts during pregame warm-ups that will feature the "Red Card Cancer" logo. A collection will be taken up during the game for the American Cancer Society.

"Everyone has been touched in some way by cancer," said Payne. "Those of us in soccer community have lost some influential people the last few years. Joe Bochicchio, a long time coach of the women's program at the University of Scranton, and Charlotte Moran, who was the president of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) and was one of the most active organizers for girls' and women's soccer in America, have been taken from us by this dreaded disease. It is time we help in the fight and finally hand a red card to cancer."

Payne hopes to grow this program into a national event in the next few years. "It would be so rewarding to see the first Saturday in October set aside for the 'Red Card Cancer' event," Payne continued. "The more money we raise the sooner that cancer could be given a permanent seat on the sidelines."

Any team wishing to purchase the official t-shirt for the event should go to Angelo's Soccer Corner web site at www.soccercorner.com . All the money raised from the sale of the t-shirts will go to the Red Card Cancer program.

Among the colleges and universities that will be participating in this program are Shippensburg University, West Chester, Slippery Rock, Mansfield, Susquehanna University, the University of Scranton, Clarion, Millersville and East Stroudsburg along with Abington Heights High School in Lackawanna County.

REMINDER
Vote for Danny Hale in the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year program.Bloomsburg Sports Infohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14890820465971132398noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552729279870065470.post-12805606857189374352009-09-29T11:23:00.000-07:002009-09-29T11:34:02.751-07:00Tuesday NewsHere is the Huskies Update for Tuesday, Sept. 29th

It's a cloudy, windy Tuesday here in Bloomsburg.
