It's Friday and the weekend is nearly upon us.
Let's look ahead to what is happening with BU sports this weekend.
Just two home events this weekend for the Huskies. Tomorrow through Monday the ITA Atlantic and East Region men's tennis regional championships will be held on the Huskies' home courts. Hopefully the weather is better than last weekend!
Also, the women's soccer team will host Gannon at 1 p.m. at Sports Stadium. The Huskies are 7-3 on the year.
The men's soccer team will play at Lock Haven at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Bloomsburg is 4-3-4 on the year.
The cross country teams got out to Slippery Rock for a big meet called the SRU Pre-National Invitational. (The regional and national championships will be held on this course). The 6,000-meter women's competition, set to start at 11 a.m., will feature five teams currently ranked in the U. S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II national poll. That elite group includes #6 Cal State Los Angeles, #14 UC San Diego, #17 Bloomsburg, #19 Dallas Baptist (TX) and the 25th-ranked Slippery Rock women. The 8,000-meter men's race, set to start at 11:45 a.m., will feature #20 Lock Haven and #24 UC San Diego.
The football team will visit winless Millersville tomorrow starting at 1 p.m. The Huskies are 5-0 on the year, 2-0 in the PSAC East. Bloomsburg will be back home a week from tomorrow to face East Stroudsburg.
Don't forget to vote for Danny Hale in the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year program. Let's get Danny Hale to the number one spot! (I'm the SID and I approved this message).
Congratulations to coach Jan Hutchinson for being selected for induction into the East Stroudsburg Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. tomorrow on the ESU campus. We'll have a release on the web site later today.
Huskies in the news....BU football player Marcus Zimmerman was featured in a story yesterday in the Lancaster newspaper. Heard yesterday from a BU alum living in Michigan...not to far from D-II power Grand Valley. He proudly stated he flies his BU house flag each day. Way to go!!
BE HUSKY PROUD...MAKE PLANS TO COME AND SEE THE HUSKIES PLAY (unless you live in Michigan...then we'll cut you some slack.)
