A daily look at the Bloomsburg University Athletic teams.

Thursday and It's Cold Again

Written by Bloomsburg Sports Info on 10:05 AM

Here is the Huskies Update for Thursday, March 19th.

Well the cold weather has returned to Bloomsburg. We get one warm day followed by a couple of cold ones.

WRESTLING
The NCAA D-I wrestling championships two matches are in the books and its not good news for the Huskies. Both Ian Moser and George Hickman got pinned in their opening round matches. Matt Moley and Ricky Schmelyun are both set to wrestle in the next hour or so.

LACROSSE
The Huskies lost to the top-ranked team in D-II, West Chester, on Wednesday by a score of 18-2. Bloomsburg, 3-1, 1-1 in the PSAC East, plays at Shippensburg on Monday at 4 p.m.

BASEBALL
Tomorrow the baseball team heads to Millersville for a twinbill starting at 1 p.m. before returning home on Saturday to face the Marauders in a 1 p.m. twinbill.

SOFTBALL
The softball team has a doubleheader scheduled tomorrow (not on the regular schedule) at Lincoln University starting at 2 p.m. The Huskies play in Virginia over the weekend.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
A few days back I asked if anyone had any questions about the workings of sports information or BU athletics. Our first question came in....

"Why is Pat Summit always regarded as being the winningest female coach in NCAA history when our own Jan Hutchinson has a 600-win margin?" Barb '72

Thanks for the question Barb...generally when TV announcers talk about Pat Summitt being the winningest female coach they are referring only to basketball. They aren't talking about overall in all college sports. Otherwise...yes...Jan Hutchinson has quite a big lead over the Tennessee head coach.

Again...if you have anything you'd like to know just shoot me an e-mail.
