Here is the Huskies Update for Monday, Sept. 14.
Well, it's back to work (wait...I worked both days this past weekend) today. It was a pretty good weekend for the Huskies. Let's recap things.
FOOTBALL
The Huskies won their third straight game with a 17-7 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday. It was another big effort by the defense led by linebacker Anthony Smith who made 11 tackles and had an interception to set up a late first half score. Dan Latorre rushed for one score and threw for another to lead the offense. Bloomsburg plays at Kutztown on Saturday at 6:05 p.m.
FIELD HOCKEY
The Huskies won a pair of games over the weekend. Bloomsburg won 8-1 over Seton Hill on Saturday, then had a 6-0 win over Slippery Rock on Sunday. In Saturday's game Maggey Bloskey had two goals and three assists, while on Sunday Amanda Riley had two goals. Bloomsburg is now 6-1 on the year.
MEN'S SOCCER
The Huskies played a 1-1, 2OT tie with Tom Natter scoring the Huskies lone goal of the game. Bloomsburg is now 2-1-2 on the season and plays at Shepherd on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Bloomsburg dropped a 1-0 decision to Shippensburg on Saturday to fall to 2-2-1 on the season. The Huskies host Georgian Court at 6 p.m.
TENNIS
The BU men's and women's tennis teams opened their 2009-10 season with the BU Invitational. The results of the tournament are available on the Huskies web site.
PSAC EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For the second time in three weeks, Anthony Smith has been named the PSAC East Defensive Player of Week. Smith leads the Huskies in tackles this season with 30, 14 of which are solo stops.
There is no action tonight for any Bloomsburg teams.
GO HUSKIES!
